THE FIRST MAN INTO SPACE: 1958

Dan the test pilot ignores orders from mission control because they are issued by his disapproving older brother, Chuck.

While high in orbit, Dan's fuel runs out as sparkly spacedust envelopes his Bell X3 wannabe rocketplane. The nose of the plane pops loose as an escape pod so they get around having to show an expensive crash site where they find...No Dan!

Who is the bloodthirsty burnt casserole man that staggers about tapping juglars before stealing transportation? Who left space sparklies on the cow's neck and McDonell/Douglas products in the barn?

Loudspeakered into a decompression chamber, Dan's last breath tells Chuck the horror of becoming the first man into space; but it's all okay, because Chuck's made it clear he's taking really good care of Dan's little French girlfriend. Part of the Marshall Thompson collection.
